Voter information cards
If you are enrolled to vote in Queensland you will receive a Voter Information Card in the mail from us, prior to the start of early voting.
This card provides important information about elections such as:
- your state electorate or local government area
- different ways you can cast your vote
- voting times and dates.
It also has a barcode on the front that is unique to you. When you bring your card when you come to vote, our election staff can scan the barcode to mark you off the roll, helping you get in and out of the polling booth quicker.
If you forget to bring your card, that’s ok. You can still vote without it.
Electronic voter information cards
If you are enrolled to vote in Queensland and have included your email address on the electoral roll you will also receive an electronic Voter Information Card from us.
This version works the same way and has a QR code that is unique to you. When you arrive to vote, you can show this to our election staff on your device.
You can bring either card with you when you come to vote, whichever you prefer.
SMS alerts
If you are enrolled to vote in Queensland and have included your mobile phone number on the electoral roll, you will also receive an election day SMS alert from us.
This message will be sent to you on election day and will remind you to vote before 6pm.
You can be assured that this message is from the ECQ because it will be sent from ‘ElectionQld’.
The AEC manages the Queensland electoral roll so if you would like to update your email address or mobile number or add these details to your record, visit aec.gov.au.
