Tablelands Regional Council divisional boundary review
The Local Government Change Commission (Change Commission) has completed its review of the Tablelands Regional Council’s divisional boundaries to consider whether the town of Herberton should be moved from Division 2 to Division 1. This review has been initiated at the request of the Council.
Final report
The Change Commission’s final report has been provided to the Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympic and Paralympic Games Infrastructure.
After assessing the available material and considering relevant legislative provisions, the Change Commission recommended that there be no change to the current divisional boundaries.
Public consultation
Public consultation on the proposed change was conducted over a two-week period from 9am on Monday 31 July 2023 until 9am on Monday 14 August 2023.
To inform public consultation, the Change Commission developed potential new divisional boundaries that could implement the requested change, as well as other boundary changes that would be needed to maintain equitable enrolment in other divisions.
The proposal summary, including existing and potential boundaries, can be viewed in the table below.
A submission was provided by the Tablelands Regional Council and was also considered by the Change Commission in preparing the potential boundaries. Read the Council’s submission here.
