Elector survey
Following the delivery of the 2024 State general election, the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) has distributed two surveys to Queensland electors seeking their feedback:
Enhance Research – State general election survey
The ECQ has engaged Enhance Research (Enhance), a Brisbane-based independent research agency, to undertake an elector satisfaction survey following the 2024 State general election.
In mid-November 2024, Enhance will be sending emails to a sample of Queensland’s 3.7 million electors, seeking feedback on election services at the October State general election through completion of a short survey.
The survey forms an important part of the ECQ’s post-election evaluation and will capture useful information about the elector experience during the 2024 State general election.
If you receive an email from Enhance seeking feedback about your experiences at the State general election, the ECQ encourages you to participate.
Survey responses are confidential and individual responses will not be disclosed to the ECQ. Participation in the survey is voluntary.
Information collected through the survey will be analysed and compared against data from the 2020 State general election and 2024 local government elections, to identify improvements for future election planning and service delivery.
The online survey is being supplemented with telephone surveys of low and non-internet users which are also being delivered by Enhance.
Key results from the survey will also be included in the ECQ’s report on the State general election that will be released in 2025.
Australian Research Council linkage project – Electoral research survey
The ECQ has partnered with leading academics on a research project into voting behaviour and informal voting in Queensland.
The five-year study is funded by the Australian Research Council and research is being conducted by Griffith University, Flinders University and the University of Adelaide.
As part of this project, the ECQ will be sending a survey to a sample of electors who were eligible to vote at the 2024 State general election in late November 2024.
The survey asks questions about voter experiences at the State general election, as well as the participants’ background and opinions on voting and democracy more generally.
This project supports the ECQ’s function of promoting research into electoral matters.
If you receive an email seeking your participation in this academic-led research survey, the ECQ encourages you to participate.
Your participation is voluntary, but will help the researchers and the ECQ to better understand electors' experiences and voting behaviour, in particular informal voting. You can skip any question you do not wish to answer.
Survey responses are confidential and cannot be linked to you personally. Individual responses will not be disclosed to the ECQ and your personal information will not be provided to the researchers.
Data collected through the survey will be analysed by the academic team and findings will be submitted for publication as a series of conference presentations, peer reviewed journal articles, books or other publication outlets. Only aggregate data will be published as individual participants are not identifiable.
