Electoral Educational Resources

The Electoral Commission of Queensland is committed to educating Youth in Queensland Electoral Processes and Voting. This section offers Resources and printable fact sheets for classroom teaching, as well as interactive learning games.  ECQ also offer School Based Training Programs to compliment Government and Democracy studies and are available to assist with running School Elections in the Greater Brisbane Area.

School Presentations

The main purpose of these presentations is to increase young people’s awareness of voting and elections.

This time will encourage young people to want to get involved as we investigate the voting process generally and, more broadly, encourage active participation in a democracy by running mock elections in which the students are completely involved.

Student Council Elections

Electing a student council helps promote a favourable climate for student life. By choosing their own representatives, students also gain a better understanding of the electoral process.

The Electoral Commission of Queensland offers support and materials for student council elections.  Please also see the Teacher and Resources section for a “How To” Guide to running your own School Election.
